Catherine Edwards, victim of homicide in 1995 receives justice in 2024.

Tonight (11/9/24), 48 Hours will tell a story about a cold case solved recently in Texas, in part, by forensic genetic genealogist Shera La Pointe. This one is the 1995 homicide death of Mary Catherine Edwards.
Catherine’s parents found her body in her Beaumont home, and the scene was unusual and gruesome. At the time, police collected as much DNA evidence as possible. From that, they were able to rule out Catherine’s boyfriend and another male.

Soon, however, the trail went cold, and it stayed that way for 29 years.

Spoilers Below.

Police tested the DNA in 2021. Fortunately, it was preserved well.

The killer’s identity was pretty shocking. His name is Clayton Bernard Foreman. Catherine was a friend of Foreman’s first wife, and she was a bridesmaid at the Foreman wedding.
