My name is BK Smith. I’m a native Texan, small business owner, and an animal lover. Obviously, I also find true crime stories interesting, and I am especially interested when the crimes happened in Texas decades ago.
Little has been written about many of them. I got frustrated because I couldn’t find out more information, so I started deep-diving into them when I had time. I’m always interested in people who commit crimes they can’t possibly get away with. The first “dumb criminal” story that really hooked me was a string of crimes committed by a Texas attorney in Dallas. He should have realized he could not get by with the crimes he did.
His capers were gifts that didn’t stop giving! After a year of research, I had quite a pile of information about him and the victims collected, and I realized I should probably organize it and do something with it. I haven’t published it yet because it needs polishing, but the first draft is done and has been edited once.
There are many true crimes cases in Texas that haven’t been given much attention and deserve the light of day, such as the project I’m working on at the moment. I’ll share more as I get closer to publishing it.
On my Vintage Texas Crimes blog, I’ll be blogging about old and interesting crimes in Texas suitable for an article-length publication. Some vintage crime stories don’t have enough to be said about the crime, perps, and victims to write an entire book. I’ll share them here.
I’ll probably be careful about what I write about myself on this site for a while. I know little about WordPress! Writing on WP isn’t like posting on Facebook, where I can write a rant and delete it quickly when I realize I have made an A-Double S out of myself!
WP used to be so simple to use, but right now, just finding the link to open this website takes me half a day! But I’ll get better and will be more forthcoming as time goes on.
I would be honored if you would follow me on social media when I set my pages up. I will need folks who will pre-read my longer blog posts and books before they are published. Soon, I’ll put a mechanism on this website to allow you to sign up for my email list.
Until then! BKS
