Court of Inquiry Video Clips
May 11, 1971 – Day 2 of the Court of Inquiry (No sound. See description below video.)
Description:
15:32 Clip of Horton in Court Starts. (Above) 15:34 There is a shot of Leon Horton to the far left in a greenish-gray suit. Next to him is Mitchell D. Stevens, then a skipped chair and the gray haired gentleman is attorney Paul Chitwood. At 15:38 the camera zooms in on Leon before the scene changes. 15:42 Judge Dee Brown Walker of the 162nd District Court comes out of his office and steps up into view behind the huge podium which is commonly called “the bench.” 15:50 We see the back of Mitchell D. Stevens’ head. The camera pans over to Paul Chitwood and Whitney Sessions. Then it’s back on Judge Walker. 15:59 Piled up on a desk are several documents that will be used as evidence during court. 16:01 Leon Horton walks across a room followed by two men. 16:05 Many signatures of “Robert L. Roberts.” Some of them are alleged to be fake. 16:11 A close up of some of the signatures, and then a side view of Leon Horton and Mitchell D. Stevens as they walked past a blue wall, then past bars, and finally into an elevator. 16:23 Leon Horton walks out of the front door of the courthouse talking with a reporter. Horton is then seen walking away from the courthouse toward the street. He walks across the street toward a Texaco gas station, and that’s the end of the relevant parts of the clip.
June 10, 1971 – Day __ , Court of Inquiry
0:06 Inside the courtroom of Judge Dee Brown Walker. 0:15 Mitchell Stevens in a light blue or gray suit. 0:24 A shot across the courtroom. The man with his back to the camera, having dark hair and a light gray or blue suit is Jerry Taff, reporter for WFAA. To his right and wearing a bowtie is Whitney Sessions. 0:31 Back of man’s head on the lower left is Leon Horton. Across the table from him in a green jacket and having gray hair is attorney Pat Robertson who lives across the street from Leon Horton on St. Johns Drive in Highland Park. 0:41 Now the lawyers have reversed positions and Horton is facing the camera, and they reverse again in seven seconds.
Anna Mimms Farley’s Property Video Clips
June 5, 1971 – 4939 Reiger Avenue, Dallas (No sound.)
7:25 Reiger Inn which was owned by Anna Farley before Leon Horton stole it from her seven months earlier. Pictured is a two-story brownish-red structure with a light-colored or white roof. The yard is not neat and the shrubs need to be trimmed. A sign out front says “Reiger Inn, Furnished Efficiency Apartments.” Below that is a phone number. At one time, it was a wealthy banker’s home. A very thin cat rubs on a cement pot (for a plant). 7:51 The front porch is full of rubbish and things that should be thrown away. 8:04 A screen door entrance is shown to Mrs. Farley’s apartment #1. 8:22 A narrow hall, and next, a flight of five stairs covered by dirty carpet lead up to a landing. The stairs are actually wide; two people could walk side by side on them. 8:29 The camera pans upward and shows a high ceiling and second set of stairs on the left and the second floor on the right.

Need to add a better description of this video – Reiger Avenue. WFAA – June 5-9, 1971 – Various shots in and around the Reiger Inn (4939 Reiger Avenue, in Old East Dallas), a small rooming house offering furnished efficiency apartments; this was the home of the 72-year-old landlady, Anna M. Farley, whose 1969 disappearance has been linked with that of wealthy investor Robert L. “Tex” Roberts – both were associated with attorney Leon C. Horton, who is currently facing prosecution in a case related to the forging of financial documents related to Roberts (Silent). Property of G. Williams Jones Collection at SMU.
