Brad Simpson was charged with his wife’s murder at their Olmos Park home (in San Antonio) in the fall of 2024.

At a hearing yesterday, Simpson’s February trial date was been pushed back another 60 days. We are probably looking at April now for a trial date.

The San Antonio Express said the prosecutor wanted additional time to go over “new evidence.”

That’s interesting, given the fact that both sides said they were ready for trial back in September when Judge Joel Perez met with both attorneys to receive an update on the discovery phase of the case.

Both sides said they had all evidence in the case and were ready to move forward with scheduling a trial date. The trial was set for February 15.

Then, on January 20, the lead prosecutor, Casey Sandoval, said “waves of more evidence” have trickled in. He also said they could not possibly get through the “volume” of it all by the February trial date. He had asked for the same extension in July 2025.

What on earth could all this fresh evidence be? If you know, please say in the comments.

For those of us not in San Antonio, Olmos Park is a very nice neighborhood.

A little personal background on the Simpsons … Brad Simpson was 51, and Suzanne Clark Simpson was 48 at the time she disappeared in October 2024.

Simpson disposed of the body so well that it has not been found. To me, that means he must have been thinking about doing this for a while.

I don’t think he wanted her out of his life; I think he was so jealous of her and having her full  attention was becoming an obsession with him. I think he was frantic that she was going to leave him; he lost it and killed her after a party one evening.  They had been married for 22 years when she disappeared.

Brad and Suzanne both grew up in San Antonio, but in different parts of the city.

The couple had dated for five years before marrying in 2002. In the fall of 2024, they met while she was in college at UT, but they didn’t start dating until a few years later.

Suzanne graduated from UT in Austin in 1995, where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in business and corporate communications. She worked for Dell Technologies as an account manager from 1997 until 2003. She then worked at Avnet Technology Solutions as an IBM hardware account manager from 2003 until 2009.

A friend said that in 2009, she was tired of driving to Austin to go to work each day, so she went into real estate, which gave her more flexibility for the children. As a real estate agent, Suzanne was very successful, and she was known for selling luxury homes. In fact, the home owned by the couple at the time of her death sold for over $1,000,000 after Suzanne’s disappearance.

Suzanne was the breadwinner of the household. Brad had been in business with a good friend, Val Cotter, but the business venture didn’t seem to do well. I don’t know what the type of business or much else about that part of the story yet.

I like for the crimes I cover here to be at least 10 years old, but this one really made my brain itch, so I’ll be mentioning it from time to time.

If you want to get more details, check out the probable cause affidavit sworn out when Simpson was arrested. I will talk about that eventually, but in the meantime, my copy of it is here:   crimesy.com/simpson1.

You will need to know how to work with PDFs on your phone or computer to download it.

See you soon!
